Basilisk as the king of snakes, due to its killing glare and its poisonous breath, in the ancient texts on them. In Harry Potter the same was basically said as the characters in that were petrified as they looked at it through reflections.

Other than that little detail getting mixed up with the myth of Medusa. The profile of your Monster high Ghoul is really good :)
